INTRODUCTION

The Opportunity
National Fatherhood Initiative announces availability of 150 Fatherhood Resource Center (FRC) awards, each valued at $3,000 for local community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, healthcare organizations and other grassroots fatherhood and family-strengthening agencies.  Through a competitive bidding process, top applicants will receive their choice of one of six resource center package options for the purpose of distributing resources to the fathers they serve.

Upon receipt of a Fatherhood Resource Center (FRC), rewardees must complete an evaluation form and attend an informative webinar filled with hints and tips for utilizing an FRC.

What Is A Fatherhood Resource Center?
A Fatherhood Resource Center (FRC) is a suite of skill-building resources - curriculum, interactive CD-ROMs, brochures, and more - designed specifically for dads.  An FRC is great for organizations currently supporting fathers and for organizations who want to start working with fathers.

Organizations can offer an FRC as a “one-stop-shop” where dads can pick up helpful resources (or where moms can pick up helpful resources to take to dads!). Also included in FRCs are NFI's comprehensive fatherhood programs - like 24/7 Dad™ and Doctor Dad - which are great for facilitating small group classes/workshops for fathers.

There are six FRC options with resources tailored for various audiences. Each option includes a kiosk that can be wall-mounted or used portably.

About the National Fatherhood Initiative
Since 1994, National Fatherhood Initiative has worked to improve the well being of children by increasing the proportion of children growing up with involved, responsible, and committed fathers. It has done so by:

  • Educating and inspiring all Americans—especially fathers—through public awareness campaigns, careful research, and providing other resources;
  • Equipping and developing leaders of national, state, and community fatherhood initiatives through curricula, training, and technical assistance; and
  • Engaging every sector of society through strategic alliances and partnerships.
