Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Monday – Friday
Travel: up to 40%

Summary
The National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) is an organization dedicated to improving the well being of children by increasing the proportion of children growing up with involved, responsible, and committed fathers. Since 1994, NFI has managed high-impact programs through strategic engagements with community centers, the military, correctional institutions and faith communities and has reached more than one million fathers with skill-building resources. NFI led the creation of the first bi-partisan House and Senate Taskforces on responsible fatherhood and has received numerous awards for their work.
NFI is seeking an experienced and charismatic leader to serve as the next President. The ideal candidate has a track record of successfully raising funds and awareness for a cause, thrives in the role of national spokesperson, is a strategic leader and brings authentic passion for the mission of NFI.
Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership
- Lead NFI’s passionate and high-performing staff of twenty
- Motivate staff with clear and measurable goals
- Work with the Board of Directors to set strategic direction of the organization
- Work with senior management team on business model with a keen eye to refine as needed
- Engage the Board of Directors in regular communication to maximize their time, expertise and resources
- Develop and manage national partnerships with diverse stakeholders including the media, government officials, nonprofit peers and business leaders
- Ensure the organization’s fiscal health through responsible management and reporting of the organization’s finances
- Advise and oversee staff on development and continuous improvement of the NFI portfolio of products and services
- Foster an organizational culture that encourages collaboration and promotes excellence
Building Brand Awareness
- Serve as a passionate steward, advocate and gatekeeper for the NFI brands
- Ensure brand consistency when addressing diverse stakeholders including individuals from the media, government, the corporate sector and the community
- Communicate effectively through written and presentation-driven platforms
- Ensure the NFI brand and all products, programs and services continue to embrace and reflect the organization’s strategy and values
- Position and elevate the NFI brand in the national discourse of fatherhood and social policy
Fundraising
- Oversee NFI’s fundraising strategy to ensure the organization’s financial sustainability
- Bring a portfolio of relationships that result in direct or indirect financial support for NFI
- Develop and implement a short, medium and long-term President’s fundraising plan with a minimum of $500K in the first six months and $2M plus in subsequent years
- Maintain and develop existing relationships with local and national funders from government, individual, foundation and corporate sectors
- Identify and grow new and existing sources of funding
Desired Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 20 years professional experience with increasing responsibility to leadership and executive roles
- Demonstrated passion for NFI’s mission and values
- Successful track record of fundraising
- Demonstrated success leading a staff, board, funders, partners and key stakeholders
- Experience serving as a public representative and speaker with the ability to build awareness and generate interest in a particular cause
- Superb communication skills
