2011 Certification College

On November 8 - 12, 2010, the 2011 grant recipients took part in five days of intensive training at the Hyatt Regency in St. Louis, Missouri. Sessions were designed to help awardees evaluate their fatherhood programs, plan ahead for long-term organizational growth, and learn how to effectively utilize available resources. National Fatherhood Initiative senior staff and other expert consultants provided technical assistance and training in the areas of leadership development, program development, organizational development, and community engagement.

2011 Capacity-Building Grant Awardees Announced

National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI), with support from the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Family Assistance, is pleased to announce 26 capacity-building awards, one award in the amount of $25,000 for each of the organizations below. The purpose of these awards is to develop these organizations' capacity to effectively serve families and fathers in their communities. On November 8 – 12, 2010, two staff leaders from each of these awardee organizations will participate in a comprehensive, 40 hour "Certification College," where National Fatherhood Initiative senior staff and other expert consultants will provide technical assistance and training in the areas of leadership development, program development, organizational development, and community engagement. The organizations will use the awards for targeted work in these same areas.

Funds Available for Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Evidence Based Education and Abstinence Programs

The Administration for Children and Families at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today made $55 million in funding available to states and territories through the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP), established under the Affordable Care Act. This initiative will support comprehensive, evidence based-programs and strategies to prevent teen pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS. Learn More
Grant Opportunity for California organizations offered by Children's Institute

Children's Institute, Inc. (CII) announces a Request for Proposals (RFP) of the Project FatherhoodSM Community Grants Program. Made possible with funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the program will identify 10-15 small faith-based and community-based organizations that will collaborate with CII in the replication of the agency's Project FatherhoodSM groups.

2011 Grant Opportunity

NFI announces the availability of 25 awards for 2011, each in the amount of $25,000, for local community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and other grassroots fatherhood agencies. Through a competitive bidding process, top applicants will receive funds for the specific purpose of increasing capacity to develop their fatherhood programming, and to improve their financial sustainability by becoming more familiar with—and better qualified to receive—federal or private philanthropic support.
