Singer Christina Aguilera Hopes To Rebuild Broken Ties With Father

Powerhouse singer Christina Aguilera has been very open about the estranged nature of the relationship between she and her biological father. Just two years ago, the “Genie In A Bottle” singer said that the relationship between she and her father didn’t exist. However, it appears that the big-voiced songstress is changing her tune.

In 2010, Christina Aguilera told Latina Magazine that she didn’t see a reason for her father, Fausto, to be in her life.  “I'm in a place in my life where I just don't see a reason for it,” she said of her father then. “To remember the chaos that [my mother] went through, the abuse. It's amazing how much you can trick your mind into surviving when you have to."

She continued with, “There's always room for forgiveness," Aguilera shared. "And I do forgive – but you grow up and make choices for your family.”

In an upcoming interview with the same magazine in March, Aguilera appears to be ready to extend the olive branch to her father. “I’ve talked about how rough things were for me and I’m sure he’s heard it. He can’t be thrilled about it,” Aguilera said. “So maybe one day we can do lunch. I’m 31 years old now. Maybe it’s time.”
