Virginia Father Faces Tough Times While Caring For Sick Teen
February 17, 2012
A Virginia man has faced heavy odds in caring for his teenaged son, who suffers from a rare skull disorder. After amassing outstanding medical bills and the like, the family was evicted from their Chesterfield home. With help from his community and a local church, Tim Roberts and his son Christopher are doing their best to get by although tough times lay ahead.
“Right now we're homeless. We’re having to stay wherever we can stay,” said Tim to local Virginia CBS affiliate WTVR-TV. Getting gracious donations from Ironbridge Baptist Church, the family have been able to secure lodging for a few nights in a hotel although it hasn’t been quite enough.
“The man needs help. He needs prayers. I feel like I wish there were more ways we could help. I just think if more people in the community knew about his situation and would pray and give to the situation, that would bring Tim some relief,” said the church’s office manager Sherry Hoover.
The father is ailing himself, after suffering a stroke but he has sacrificed his own health for his son. “I’m just afraid that if I have anything done and if I pass away during my surgery, it will be three times harder for Christopher if I’m not there with him. That’s why I choose not to have anything done other than me taking medicine and praying to God that I make it through this without having another stroke” said Roberts.
