'Harry Potter' Star Daniel Radcliffe Considering Fatherhood
February 3, 2012
After playing popular boy wizard Harry Potter for the last decade, English actor Daniel Radcliffe has begun to finally take on roles that differ vastly from the thrilling magic tales present in the eight Potter films. However, it’s Radcliffe’s desire to settle down and become a father that stands out most of all.
At just 22, Radcliffe has achieved global fame in the role of Harry Potter, growing up on screen in the process. His post-Potter career is getting off to a spooky start with new thriller The Woman In Black hitting theaters today. Playing a father who encounters a vengeful spirit, he is thrust into a role in where he must protect his young son from a terrible fate.
Off screen, Radcliffe’s life is a bit more settled and with a budding romance, the actor is looking forward to fatherhood and matrimony with partner Roseanne Corker – although on his own terms.
“We both want the same things. But we also know it would be ridiculous any time soon. I always wanted to have kids young, but also thought, ‘That's going to be hard work.’ I've seen a lot of very good friends have kids and become immeasurably happier, but very tired," he said in the March edition of UK Glamour magazine. “Kids are the single greatest, fulfilling thing I've seen happen to people. But we've got a lot of fun times ahead before that happens.”
Radcliffe, considered dashing by many, found the dating scene to be a bit underwhelming. “I'm happy sitting at home watching TV, laughing, with somebody that I love. That's my idea of fun.”
