‘Eagle Daddy’ Makes 4-Year Old Son Do Pushups In Freezing Temp

A shocking video filmed by a Chinese father in New York City last month featured the man instructing his 4-year old boy to do pushups on a snow-covered street while in his underwear. As the video made its round throughout the online sphere, the father has defended his actions by saying he’s helping to develop his son.

Known only as “Eagle Daddy,” the father is shown videotaping his boy, indentified as Ho Yide, in his underwear running through the snow as the boy cries and shivers during Chinese New Year’s Eve. The boy’s mother can be heard in the back laughing as the boy continues to sob as he performs a pushup. The boy then utters in Chinese, “Please give me a hug” – as the camera held by the boy’s father captures the drama.

The father defended his actions, saying the actions were training for his son who was born a few months early. Posting online under this “eagle daddy” handle, the father said that he has a developed a strict education and physical training plan in order for his son to grow healthy.

The father’s personal assistant addressed the press, saying that the boy agreed to do the run. The assistant further added the boy was born prematurely with health issues, which led doctors to say he may have cerebral palsy. Although public outrage has been ongoing, the father is unmoved by the criticism.

“He says he doesn't care what others say. That the fact that the child lived showed that he has tenacious vitality,” the assistant said.
