Country Star Justin Moore Opens Up About Daughter Scare, Fatherhood
January 27, 2011
Like many young fathers, rising country singer Justin Moore still has quite a bit to learn about being a dad. Although Moore and his wife Kate have been raising their daughter Ella for nearly two years, the 27-year old Arkansas native is still learning the ropes with the family’s latest addition, daughter Kennedy – and a scary moment for Moore with his eldest child gave him a much needed reminder that kids are a lot tougher than we think.
Justin says via his music label Valory Music Group, “I accidentally hit Ella in the head one time. I just like swung around and her nose started bleedin’. And I started cryin’. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, what, oh my God, whatta, whatta we do?’ And my wife’s like, ‘She’s fine. It’s ok.’”
After Moore’s wife calmed him down, the singer offered a humbling perspective. “For a while, I’m like, I don’t want her to get a speck of dirt on her,” said Moore. “It’s like when you get a new truck and you’re, like, keep it clean every few days. Now I’m just like, ‘Ehh, let ‘er go. Let her go be a kid.’”
Justin Moore released his sophomore album Outlaws Like Me this past June. The album debuted at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and gained a top spot on the Top Country Albums list.
