Basketball Star Lamar Odom Tends To Sick Father, Takes Time Off

Dallas Mavericks forward Lamar Odom and reality TV star wife Khloe Kardashian both flew to Los Angeles to be at the bedside of Odom’s father, Joe, thus cancelling a game appearance on Wednesday. Website Radar Online spoke with an unnamed source close to Odom earlier in the week who said his father is “gravely ill.”

“Lamar’s dad is gravely ill, and he wanted time off to be with him,” said the source. “Khloe and Lamar were really upset about the news about Joe. They’re putting their schedules on hold right now to be there for him.”

Lamar and Joe Odom have had a troubled relationship that was apparently on the mend, as showcased on his reality show co-starring his wife, Khloe and Lamar.

The source continued with, “It was really serious for Lamar to take the break right now and last night proved it, but no one is holding it against him.”

However, it appears that Joe Odom’s issue was simply just a stomach virus says a new report  from gossip site TMZ. Joe Odom said in a video interview that “everything is good now” and that he was touched his son would skip a game to be with him in a time of need.

Mavericks Coach Rick Carlisle said that the team has granted Odom time off extending through the 2012 NBA All-Star break this weekend.
