Lisa Marie Presley Says She May Undertake Movie Project About Famous Dad
February 2, 2012
Lisa Marie Presley has grown up under the massive shadow of her famous music legend father Elvis and has seen countless films that have attempted to capture his life. Unimpressed by the offerings done so far, Ms. Presley is contemplating working on her own film focusing on the iconic career of her father.
“There’s not been anything done properly with him yet, you know, that has satisfied me in terms of capturing everything,” she said to The Associated Press. “It will happen, though.”
The normally reclusive Lisa Presley isn’t known for granting many interviews but was on hand at Graceland at the premiere of a new exhibit “Elvis Through His Daughter’s Eyes” which is a personal inside look at the life of the rock n’ roll great, including photos from Lisa Marie’s childhood with her father and other memorabilia.
Presley still works closely with Elvis Presley Enterprise, which handles her father’s merchandising and licensing rights in varying forms of media. However, her father’s image still manages to find their ways into the public oftentimes without permission.
“There can be a sort of cheesy take on him, which I don’t always love sometimes — you know, the later years and that whole thing with his white jumpsuit,” she said. “Now I’m probably over it. But I mean it was kind of running wild for a while. It was a little bit cringe-worthy.”
Presley hopes to craft a film similar to the critically acclaimed Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line.
