How to Find a Fatherhood Program Near You

Posted by Ryan Sanders

I often receive calls and emails from dads and community leaders who are looking for help. It may be a dad needing advice or a leader planning an event and looking for a local expert to speak. In many cases, connecting with local programs and resources is the answer.

But connecting with the people who have common passion can be difficult. In this post, I will introduce you to our Fatherhood Program Locator and show you how to utilize it.

The Fatherhood Program Locator helps you search and find programs and resources near you. Our clients are using it in many ways, but for this post, I wanted to make you aware of it and show you how it works.

Step 1 > Visit The Fatherhood Program Locator.

You can find the Fatherhood Program Locator here. We have it strategically placed around our website, but now you have the link. Feel free to bookmark it on your web browser. Once you arrive at the Fatherhood Program Locator, you will be asked to complete the following tasks in order to get the best results.

Step 2 > Enter Your Location into The Fatherhood Program Locator.

To find organizations in your community that offer National Fatherhood Initiative® (NFI) fatherhood programs and resources, please enter your zip code in the search box where it says "Enter a Location". Then select your city and state from the drop down list.

I did a search using NFI's zip code to show you how it works.

For this example, "Germantown, MD 20876, United States" is the exact area I'm interested in given the zip code I entered. Click on "Germantown, MD 20876, United States" and move to the next step.

Step 3 > Pick a Search Radius in The Fatherhood Program Locator.

Once you have the city and state picked, you will want to enter a search radius. You can view the options from the image below. You will need to pick a radius from 1 mile to 100 miles and click the "search" button.

Depending on how populated your city is, you will want to broaden or narrow the search radius. For example, in New York City, you would want to pick a search radius of one mile because there's a few fatherhood programs/resources within a one mile radius.

Step 4 > Contact The Fatherhood Program Near You.

Once you have picked a radius, the options for fatherhood programs and resources will be found on the right column of the page.

It will look something like this:

fatherhood-program-results-example.png

In this example, you can see several programs and/or resources nearby. Below each listing, you will see a note that says either "Call for Offerings" or "Fatherhood Programs and Fatherhood Resources available".

Please feel free to contact the organization(s) directly to learn whether they provide direct services to fathers, and, if so, whether they offer fatherhood programs (e.g. curriculum such as 24/7 Dad®) or fatherhood resources (e.g. brochures and guides) at the present time.

It's important to note, if you do not see a program close to you, it does not mean a program isn't running near you. Each red dot is an account and each account often runs multiple programs. For the fatherhood and family leader reading this post, the list of results from your search, these are your local experts...connect with them.

Please note, organizations displayed on the map have acquired programs and/or resources from National Fatherhood Initiative®. If you are an organization that offers NFI programs or resources and wish to add, update, or remove your information from this map, please email webmaster@fatherhood.org.
