An easy way to get involved is to make sure your house is safe.  Print off this helpful checklist to make sure your house is safe for your growing child:

Kitchen

__Clear Counter

__Appliances away when not in use

__No loose cords

__Oven/stove locks

__Cabinets secured/cabinet locks

__Pot handles turned toward rear of stove

__Remove tablecloth

__Pet food and water out of reach/put away

__Sharp items/knives put away

__Cleaning supplies out of reach

__Electric socket covers

Bathroom

__Toilet lid lock

__Faucet cover/padding

__Hot water heater set below 120 degrees

__Appliances put away

__Medicines/cosmetics put away

__Razors out of reach

__Electric socket covers

__Non-slip tub mat

__Cleaning supplies out of reach/put away

Bedroom

__Snug-fitting crib mattress

__No pillows/stuffed animals in crib

__smoke detector

__Window blind cords out of reach

__Radiator/heater covered

__Safe toy box, no heavy lid

__Crib away from window

__Window secured, gated if above first floor

__All baby care supplies put away

__Socket covers

Living Room

__Bookcases secured to wall

__Knick-knacks and house plants out of reach

__Electric cords taped down

__Table corners padded

__Door lock out of reach

__Gates at top and bottom of stairs

__Electronic equipment out of reach

__Smoke detector

__Socket covers

Garage

__Tools out of reach

__Lock/secure toolboxes

__Put chemicals away

__Unplug electric tools and secure electric cords

__Smoke detector

__Put away lawn mowers/lawn tools
