overview: What is Healthcare Programming?

Our Healthcare Programming increases health literacy so new fathers can get involved right from the start, and help dads maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle so they'll be able to leave a legacy for years to come.

These innovative fatherhood resources equip new dads with the knowledge and the confidence they need to get involved right from the start.

Healthcare Programming Includes:

Get the Facts

When fathers are involved, responsible, and committed, children (and moms!) are happier and healthier. Here are the facts:

  • Infant mortality rates are 1.8 times higher for infants of unmarried mothers than for married mothers.

  • Toddlers living in step-families and single-parent families were more likely to suffer a burn, have a bad fall, or be scarred from an accident.

  • Children who live apart from their fathers are more likely to be diagnosed with asthma even after taking into account demographic and socioeconomic conditions.

  • Single mothers report higher levels of stress, fewer contacts with family and friends, less involvement with church or social groups and less overall social support.

Help create a healthy future for our nation's children and families.  Get started with our Healthcare Programming today!

NFI Speaks at National Healthy Start Association Congressional Briefing

NFI President Roland C. Warren spoke at National Healthy Start Association's recent Congressional Briefing on Infant Mortality.  The U.S. has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the developed world, and there is a clear tie to father absence.  Research shows that father absent homes have some of the highest rates of infant mortality.

Programs like Doctor Dad are being used by organizations across the country to educate fathers and lower infant morality rates.  For more information on our healthcare resources, visit www.fatherhood.org/healthcare.
