Fatherhood Today - June 2010

Supporting Military Fathers And Their Families

The Need: About 1.8 million children are affected by the unique stresses of military life.  These kids have the same outcomes as children in father absent homes - higher rates of depression, lower school achievement, and more.

Our Solution: Strong and ready fathers increase military family readiness, helping families successfully navigate the challenges of military life. In 2001, we launched Military Programming to provide the support that military dads and their families need.

Since then, we've distributed nearly 300,000 resources to U.S. Military families around the world, including our Deployed Fathers and Families Guide, which helps families create a plan to prepare for deployment.  We also host the TriWest Healthcare Alliance Drop Dad a Line to help fathers and families stay connected.

The Stories Behind our Military Programming

“As our nation is at war, and soldiers are deployed across the globe, families need the resources, community support and encouragement your organization provides....Your contribution to the health and welfare of those who serve our nation and their families is a special gift indeed.”

Kristi Pappas, Chaplain, US Army, Walter Reed Army Medical Center (Washington, DC)
