Wasting Time in the New Digital Divide
Matt Richtel writes for The New York Times that as access to new digital devices spreads, children in poorer families are spending more time than children from more well-off families using their television, games and gadgets.
Researchers point out the “time-wasting gap” is more a reflection of the ability of parents to monitor and limit how children use technology than of access to it.
It seems access to the gadgets isn’t the problem – it’s learning to manage all the gadgets that creates issues.
