Title: "Poverty Interrupted: Behavioral Science Principles for Practitioners"

This workshop will introduce key principles of behavioral science and behavioral barriers that emerge in work with children, youth, and adults living in low-income households. The discussion and break-out group exercises will highlight a variety of research-based strategies to overcome these barriers and improve program impact.

Participants will:

  • Learn how having limited resources and opportunities of various kinds can affect how we process information and follow through on intentions
  • Participate in breakout group discussions to practice applying behavioral design strategies to a problem in your work.

Hosted by: ideas42Behavioral Design Center

The ideas42 Behavioral Design Center (BDC) works with NYC non-profits to infuse behavioral science approaches into practice, professional development, and program design. Through education, technical assistance, and cooperative design, the Center helps non-profits boost productive use of their services, enhance civic engagement, and improve outcomes for their clients and communities.

Who Should Attend
This workshop is for staff of non-profit organizations. We are looking for participants who will provide constructive feedback via a short end-of-session and follow-up survey, and/or phone conversation. BDC is adapting a series of workshops they have run in New York City for the past 3 years for a remote and national audience, and are running pilot sessions of the revised versions to refine and improve them. This is an opportunity to be part of one of their pilots to help shape future sessions.
